The role
Supabase wants a senior C engineer to evolve OrioleDB, a next-generation PostgreSQL storage engine, and work with the upstream Postgres community. The role also covers production support and on-call with Americas time zone overlap.
What you'll do
- Design and implement new OrioleDB features such as native index access methods
- Build test infrastructure: fuzzing, crash and recovery testing, CI
- Prepare patches for upstreaming to PostgreSQL core
- Debug complex low-level C code across storage, replication and indexing
- Support OrioleDB in production, including ticket work and on-call

- PostgreSQL core contributor or equivalent database internals experience
- Expert C programmer with 8+ years of production systems experience
- Deep familiarity with PostgreSQL's codebase, build system and extension APIs
- Experience building storage engines, index structures or query execution parts
- Comfortable with upstream open source work and clear technical writing
