The role
Patronus AI needs payments engineers for live coding sessions in a sandboxed payments codebase. Your reviews and write-ups become evaluation and training data for frontier models.
What you'll do
- Implement and review payment flows live with a researcher in a sandbox
- Explain your reasoning and the edge cases you check first
- Flag failure modes like double charges, partial captures and replayed webhooks
- Help write acceptance criteria, including the tempting wrong moves
- Write short notes after each session on what you verified
What they're looking for
Must-haves
- 3+ years writing production payments code, including in the last two years
- Command of authorization, capture, settlement, reconciliation and disputes
- Knowledge of PCI DSS and SCA compliance edges
- Comfortable in Python, Go, Java or TypeScript and reading unfamiliar code
- Clear spoken English and availability for scheduled live sessions
Nice to have
- Experience with several processors or rails, such as Stripe, Adyen, ACH or SEPA
- Experience writing design documents or incident reviews for payments systems
- Familiarity with how AI coding agents fail on payments work
