The role
Zapier's State team needs a senior DBRE to own reliability, performance and tooling for its relational database and cache fleet. You'll act as the technical lead for data-layer design reviews and grow the DBRE practice.
What you'll do
- Own reliability of the Redis Enterprise and ElastiCache caching layer
- Manage database and cache infrastructure as code with Terraform
- Build observability for the data layer: dashboards, alerts and SLOs
- Lead design reviews and mentor engineers on database and cache practice
- Join the on-call rotation as escalation point for data-layer incidents
What they're looking for
- 7+ years in sysadmin, systems engineering or software development
- 4+ years running production relational databases
- Deep MySQL or PostgreSQL expertise, working knowledge of the other
- Highly available cloud database design in AWS or similar, with Terraform
- Observability experience with Datadog, Prometheus or CloudWatch
