The role
Secfix needs a hands-on engineering lead to speed up delivery, raise quality and own technical hiring, growing into the engineering manager role as the team doubles. You'll work directly with the CTO.
What you'll do
- Ship features every week and own specs, architecture and reviews on big projects
- Cut cycle time from spec to production through tooling, review flow and task splits
- Take over technical hiring, including designing challenges and running interviews
- Mentor engineers through technical 1:1s focused on output, quality and AI use
- Grow into managing the team as it scales from 8 engineers toward 16
What they're looking for
Must-haves
- 8+ years as a senior or staff software engineer, 1+ as tech lead for 3+ people
- Shipped AI features to production, such as RAG or agentic workflows
- Built with Claude Code and Cursor in real production work
- Strong OOP and Java Spring Boot or Hibernate, plus SQL optimisation
- Works in European time (CET/CEST), based in EMEA
Nice to have
- Some people management experience
- Designed a technical interview process from scratch
- Previous experience at a fully remote company
