The role
Customer.io's Platform team needs a senior backend engineer to design and run Go services that process millions of events per second. You'll lead architecture decisions on reliability, performance and real-time event processing.
What you'll do
- Design and evolve distributed Go systems handling billions of daily events
- Lead architectural decisions on performance, reliability and event processing
- Improve service-to-service communication through better APIs and messaging
- Find bottlenecks across teams and lead the fixes
- Debug production systems at scale and join the on-call rotation

Must-haves
- Deep experience with distributed systems and large-scale backend architecture
- Experience building scalable systems in Go or a similar statically typed language
- Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, such as Postgres and DynamoDB
- Comfort with cloud-native environments like AWS or GCP
- Strong instincts for reliability, observability and fault tolerance
Nice to have
- Experience with event-driven systems, message queues or data pipelines
