The role
Supabase is hiring an engineer to build and operate the backend behind its AI products, including the MCP server. You'll own reliability, auth for agent clients, and observability, and carry the team's on-call.
What you'll do
- Build and operate production services behind Supabase's AI products, including the MCP server
- Set SLOs with SRE and use error budgets to decide what to fix first
- Take part in the AI Tooling on-call rotation and write incident follow-ups and runbooks
- Own OAuth, scoped tokens and permissions for AI and agent clients
- Run observability and rate, cost and abuse controls for agent traffic
What they're looking for
Must-haves
- 5+ years building and running production backend services, with on-call
- Strong TypeScript or Go, comfortable in the other
- Designed and operated APIs with real consumers, including versioning and rate limiting
- OAuth, OIDC and JWT knowledge good enough to debug in production
- PostgreSQL, CI/CD, Docker and infrastructure as code
Nice to have
- Experience with MCP or other agent tooling
- Experience with Grafana, OpenTelemetry or Logflare, and SLO work
- Open-source contributions to Node.js, Go, TypeScript or API tooling
